Not on Google or Microsoft? Almost any mailbox works through SMTP and IMAP.
Transcript
- Any other mailbox works too: iCloud, Zoho, your web host...
- Pick "Something else" in "Which option is me?".
- SMTP sends your email, IMAP lets Outvori read replies. That's all they are.
- Type the address you send from.
- Pick your provider: the server names and ports fill in for you.
- Paste the password or app password. It is stored encrypted and never shown again.
- Press Connect and test. Outvori logs in once to check - it sends nothing.
- A problem? You get the reason and the fix, like "app password needed".
- Fix it and press Test again.
- Both checks pass: the mailbox is ready.
What is SMTP/IMAP?
SMTP is how an app sends email through your mailbox. IMAP is how it reads what arrives - here, the replies. Every provider has an SMTP and an IMAP server name, a port number and a login. Outvori fills in the server names and ports for the providers in the list; you only add the password.
Steps
- Open Mailboxes and pick Something else under Which option is me?.
- Type the address you send from and the sender name people should see.
- Pick your provider under Who provides this mailbox?. The SMTP and IMAP servers and ports fill in.
- Paste the password - or an app password if your provider asks for one.
- Press Connect and test. Outvori saves the mailbox and logs in once to check the settings. Nothing is sent.

The password is stored encrypted and never shown again.
Providers in the list
Gmail (app password), Microsoft 365, Outlook.com, iCloud, Zoho, Fastmail, Yahoo, GoDaddy Professional Email, Namecheap Private Email, IONOS, OVHcloud MX Plan, one.com, Loopia, Strato, Bluehost and other cPanel hosts. Each preset was copied from the provider's own help page, which is linked next to the form with the date it was checked.
Not in the list (for example Hostup, or Microsoft 365 bought through GoDaddy)? Look in your host's control panel under Email for "SMTP settings", or use the Microsoft sign-in for Microsoft 365.
What is an app password?
A separate password your provider creates for one app, so you never share your main password. iCloud, Fastmail and Yahoo always need one. Gmail and Zoho need one when two-step verification is on.
When the test fails

| The test says | What to do |
|---|---|
| Wrong username or password | Use an app password if your provider needs one, and your full email address as the username |
| Server name not found | Check the spelling, or pick your provider in the list |
| Refused on this port / no answer | Switch between port 465 (SSL/TLS) and 587 (STARTTLS) |
| Encryption setting does not match the port | Port 465 starts encrypted, 587 upgrades with STARTTLS: use the pair your provider lists |
| Certificate not trusted | Use the server name your provider gives for email apps (it must match the certificate) |
Fix the setting and press Save and test again.
